Employment Status: Full-time, temporary, non-exempt, with the possibility to become permanent. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., some evening and weekend hours as needed. This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, audiovisual equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, cable installation, data communication, and computer systems.
Under direct supervision, the incumbent will assist level 2 technicians in:
Performing basic audiovisual support of the campus' 250 SMART classrooms, including both hardware and software issues using hands-on diagnostic and repair techniques. Details include assisting with installations, upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and other software and hardware configurations of the computers and audiovisual multimedia equipment used in the SMART classrooms and Instructional labs around campus
Assist other technical staff in providing support, innovative approaches and technologies to students, staff, and faculty.
Assist in the planning, implementation and management of various SMART classroom and Instructional labs audiovisual/multimedia systems and internet related protocols.
Inventory, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment/devices.
Assist in performing regular inspections and problem identification in classroom technology systems and will assist with special events and presentations.
Help maintain equipment and systems, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a job related field.
Equivalence of one (1) year of relevant audiovisual/multimedia experience
Experience in both Mac & Windows operating systems.
Experience in using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel). A basic knowledge of audiovisual/multimedia systems is required.
Experience in developing processes to test, evaluate, and recommend use of computing technologies
Must have knowledge in the configuration and installation of hardware and software systems.
Basic working knowledge of cabling, audio and video techniques.
Demonstrated ability in managing time and priorities
Customer-centric approach to service delivery
High level of digital fluency
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to organize assignments, and meet deadlines is required, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
Well-developed communication and customer service skills.
Equivalent of a bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science or a related field
Basic troubleshooting/maintenance skills of audiovisual/multimedia systems/devices such as Extron, Crestron, projectors, speakers, soldering, etc. are preferred.
Previous professional experience working in a higher education environment is highly desired.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details and to meet deadlines and milestones.
Patience and well-developed interpersonal skills.
