Overview The Business Development Analyst is primarily responsible for collection and summary of competitive intelligence raw data, evaluation of industry trends, as well as understanding the impact of and to Renaissance's/competitor's strategies. This role will also assist with the valuation of potential strategic partnerships from a competitive perspective. This position will periodically interact with R&D, Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, and Sales/Marketing internally, and Third Party Partners externally. The Analyst, Business Development will also be responsible for data mining, data analytics, and pipeline program monitoring. The position requires strong project management and organization skills to analyze and prioritize large amounts of industry data and present in a useful and practical manner. Ideal candidate will also leverage technical and commercial experience/knowledge working across multiple disciplines through creative, self-motivated interactions with internal stakeholders and third-party partners, externally. Responsibilities Assist with the analysis of the competitive landscape to evaluate potential sales & marketing targets, strategic partnerships, and segment trends. Review departmental resources, event summaries, FDA watch lists, news outlets, and the like to evaluate and monitor the competitive landscape. Communicate with outside counsel, Regulatory Affairs and R&D as needed and/or review management summaries to obtain legal and regulatory factors impacting market formation and launch dates for competitive products. Summarize and create report packages outlining competitive intelligence from department resources, FDA website, news outlets, event summaries, and internal meetings. Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and forecast data to create reports used for prioritization of products bring targeted by Sales & Marketing. Prepare ad hoc reports as needed from both internal and external data sources to support strategic planning activities and portfolio mix analysis. Develop and manage department databases in Excel and Access. Thorough understanding and ability to utilize standard accounting, financial and statistical concepts is required. Provide troubleshooting and issue resolution as needed. Candidate must be organized and detail oriented. Represent the department in interactions with other departments, including Regulatory Affairs, R&D, MT&S, Chemistry, Micro, and Legal as well as other internal and external customers. Develop, and foster good working relationships with internal and external customers and support initiatives required to continually enhance the Renaissance reputation. Key internal customers of this role include R&D, Business development, Commercial Operations, and Finance. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills required. Perform other duties as assigned. REPORTING: Position reports to the Associate Director, Business Development. Requires minimal supervision, works independently and achieves results through collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, or (Technical) Science is preferred, but a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience in the industry or forecasting, data analysis and manipulation, and statistical analysis may be considered. In addition, science background, preferably pharmaceutical experience, and a proven record of achievement is preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint at a high level of competence is required. Candidate must be organized and detail oriented with a keen sense of urgency as appropriate. Knowledge of pharmaceutical market landscape, products, customer base, and understanding of the potential impact of business events is preferred. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills required. Proven ability to operate independently and demonstrate sound judgment and facilitation skills. Proven ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures as well as effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, and customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
