Merakey is seeking a Direct Support House Manager to join our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (IDD) division in Hummelstown, PA .
Position is full-time with benefits. Rate of pay = $33,500

The position of Residential House Manager is an entry level, direct care supervisory position. This is an on-call position, 24 hours a day. Under the guidance of the Administrator, the House Manager will provide for the safety and well-being of each resident within the home and facilitate community involvement/interaction in cooperation with residents, staff, consultants and administration. Responsibility to residents includes: provision of framework for an enjoyable learning experience in a family setting and provision of the skills, information, guidance, supervision and training necessary to foster growth and development. Toward this end, the House Manager will facilitate implementation of general and specific household and individual routine/programming while serving as a positive role model for the resident population as well as Residential Program Workers. House Managers are responsible for the complete operation of a living unit and the IDD individuals who reside there. Are responsible for developing and implementing all facets of home life, as close to a normal family unit as possible. Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of staff and the directing on ongoing daily activities and enforcement of all policies and procedures.
When in the home, at any given time, the House Manager must assist with any situation, which requires their help or assistance. On occasion, when outside of the home, the House Manager might be called back to the home to assist.
Provides a desirable home atmosphere, which advocates the full rights of the residents and requires that they perform in mature, wholesome and responsible manner.
Responsible for general upkeep of the home so as to present a neat, clean and comfortable environment for all residents.
Maintains firmness in supervision; having the ability to discipline without unreasonable or humiliating mental or physical punishment. (Being aware that each resident has a different personality and is to be respected as an individual.); Handles petty cash, keeps receipts, and bills and returns them to the Fiscal Office
Serves as Fire Marshall/Safety Officer for the home; Conducts tours of the residence when applicable.
Delegates at own discretion to other employees the exercise of any powers or the discharge of any duties with the knowledge that the delegation of power and duty does not relieve the incumbent of final responsibility for the action taken under such delegation.
Responsible for the instruction of living skills on a group and/or individual basis, including: grooming, personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation, and etiquette.
Assists the residents in learning about the community and the use of community facilities; i.e., transportation, shopping, banking, etc.
Maintains high standards of cleanliness throughout the home; Maintains confidentiality of all records.
