THE ROLE WHERE YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Dolco Packaging has an opening for a Printing Process Engineer within the Engineering department. This Exempt position will ideally base in Decatur, IN although candidates could also base in Dallas, TX or Lawrenceville, GA.
This role will use engineering principles to develop products and processes for manufacturing and sales support. Incumbent in this role will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated printing projects for all Dolco plants, to include design, training, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
SOME KEY DUTIES INCLUDE
Responsible for equipment design and reliability improvement through testing and recommendation of new processes to support quality improvement efforts.
Maintain asset list and utilization of printing equipment for each plant – i.e., egg carton print capability including a matrix for all locations, artwork templates, labeling applications, side lid capability, CPM, etc.
Organize and maintain training literature. Provide onsite training for operators, “train the trainer” and maintenance personnel.
Manage vendor relationships for all print related activities.
Develop capital expenditure recommendations involving plant personnel and sales.
Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics and records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Up to 50 percent travel to any of the other Dolco/Tekni-Plex facilities to assist in daily operations, troubleshooting and/or supporting process improvements in the plant(s).
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated “hands on” technical proficiency related to printing equipment. Internal candidates with specific knowledge of Dolco/TPI processes are preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency managing projects and creating/driving process improvements; experience in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/TWI is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Demonstrated computer proficiency, to include MS Office, ERP systems, and project management software.
Strong critical thinking and (root) problem solving skills, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to teach/train.
