The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company. The Compliance Director is accountable for establishing and overseeing execution of the enterprise-wide compliance program across the distribution function related to the institutional asset management business for Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM). Wells Fargo Funds Distributor, LLC (WFFD) is the limited purpose broker dealer which distributes the investment strategies of WFAM. Investment strategies are accessible through a variety of product structures, including institutional separate accounts, retail separately managed accounts, mutual funds (open-end, closed-end, variable trust), private funds (hedge funds, commingled investment vehicles, medium-term note programs), and Luxembourg-domiciled funds (UCITS). S/he will assume primary responsibility for managing compliance risk and ensuring that all broker-dealer activities are in compliance with FINRA and SEC rules and regulation. The Compliance Director will be responsible for overseeing / monitoring the distribution risks and controls within WFAM. S/he will lead a team of compliance professionals and be responsible for administering a compliance program that is reasonably designed to achieve compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Direct and oversee key enterprise compliance program elements with respect to the broker dealer activities including compliance risk assessments, initiative management, establishment of policies for the broker dealer, delivery of compliance training for the broker dealers, compliance issue management, metrics and reporting for the broker dealer Board of Directors Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across the distribution teams within WFAM and their support teams Provide credible challenges as needed to business activities, processes, controls and mitigation activities Understand and present the regulatory/compliance risks that exist within specific business processes Monitor and assess regulatory changes and impacts to the business activities Oversee and provide credible challenge on resolving issues through sound corrective actions designed to improve and strengthen internal controls Identify continuous improvement opportunities, and implement routines to drive effectiveness and efficiency within the compliance team Oversee and provide credible challenge on the adequacy and effectiveness of business policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls Provide thought leadership, people leadership, and individualized coaching and guidance As a Team Member Manager , you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Required Qualifications 7+ years of management experience 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 12+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 10+ years must include direct experience in risk management Successfully completed FINRA Series 7 and 63 (or 66) exams to qualify for immediate registration (or FINRA recognized equivalents) Successfully completed FINRA Series 24 exam to qualify for immediate registration (or FINRA recognized equivalents) Desired Qualifications A BS/BA degree or higher Advanced Microsoft Office skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Other Desired Qualifications Ability to lead, develop, and execute oversight and monitoring over business group distribution functions including both broker-dealer and investment advisor products Organizational courage and willingness to make tough, informed decisions and thoughtfully share independent perspectives. Ability to credibly challenge the front line on business decisions involving distribution of various products - both securities and advisor products Proven experience managing large bodies of work, with multiple partners, complex and shifting processes Proven ability to identify solutions and influence peers and business leaders who may have differing opinions Ability to own or contribute to problem solving and drive work to execution Ability to negotiate Subject matter expert in broker dealer rules and distribution risks, specific to a limited purpose broker dealer Ethical integrity and proven ability to serve as a role model by reinforcing and demonstrating to your team members the core values and behavioral expectations contained in Wells Fargo's Vision, Values & Goals.
