Job Summary The Logistics Supervisor plans, directs, controls, coordinates and evaluates logistics management functions. The Surgical Specialties Unit is located on the sixth floor side C of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. Number of beds: The Surgical Specialties Unit has sixteen private beds. Primary patient population/diagnoses: 1) General Surgery a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, bowel resection, mastectomy, irrigation and debridement of wounds or abscesses 2) Urology a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: prostatectomy, nephrectomy, ureteral stent placement. b) Hematuria patients requiring bladder irrigation manual or continuous c) Kidney stone patients pre- and postoperatively 3) Ear, Nose, Throat: a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: thyroidectomy, tonsillectomy, drainage of peritonsillar abscess, and Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) 4) Vascular a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: bypass grafts (femoral-popliteal, femoral-femoral, etc.), abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair, carotid endartectomy, dialysis access formation (dialysis catheter, dialysis AV fistula), amputations (BKA, AKA, etc.) 5) Plastics a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: mastectomy with breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty, and breast reduction. 6) Neruosurgery a) The postoperative patient following but not limited to: spinal fusion, discectomy, and stable craniotomy that is not part of the stroke program. 7) Miscellaneous: abdominal pain patients awaiting surgery or requiring bowel rest, patients requiring a chest tube (spontaneous pneumothorax, bleb resection, etc.) Responsibilities Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN preferred. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized. Skills: Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
