Learns, demonstrates knowledge and skills, and becomes certified in all aspects of company systems and the pork industry standards.  Collects data and samples as outlined in protocols for research trials. Monitor and care for animals on research trials.   This position functions under the supervision of the appropriate department leader while performing all duties and responsibilities as a learning/development process. Manager Trainee will work for 1 year in the Research Department and then be transferred to the Production Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following.   Other duties may be assigned. Works with some regularity at both research farm sites; as managers deem necessary due to the needs of data collection and/or employee scheduled work hours. Works daily on research farm; including weighing and moving pigs from wean age to market age. Gains a solid understanding of and ability to implement company systems such as pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, husbandry, etc. Performs and masters all hourly jobs under supervision.   Becomes certified in each job after showing competence and skill/understanding in each. Develops and establishes rapport/relationships with all personnel and management. Develops and prepares required reports on experiences encountered and addresses/shares opportunities for improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring that we are able to safely deliver the best Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan’s Famous, or any of our product brands to customers and consumers.   This position is responsible for the quality of export products produced at the Tar Heel facility. Responsibilities include working with Export Manager, QA, and Operations to ensure the product is produced to the specifications and verifying that the quality systems and programs are in place specifically for export products. Other responsibilities include verifying the integrity of specialty hog programs from receiving of the hog to the shipment of the finished product. This position is expected to master and apply Quality Assurance and Food Safety policies and procedures.
