WSP USA has an immediate opening for a Sr. Supervising Engineer/Project Manager in the Eastern Tennessee area. The right candidate has exceptional client and industry relationships and staff leadership skills, and demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in managing and directing planning and engineering projects, office operations, and in establishing a positive office culture. This self-starter will work in concert with the Tennessee Area Manager, discipline leaders in the Nashville office, other WSP USA offices, regions, and markets to achieve the firm’s overall financial and market success. This is a key seller / doer role with the potential to have a significant impact on client development and project management on a wide variety of large, civil municipal projects in the areas of transportation transit, public works, aviation, water resources and distribution systems and more. Responsibilities Include: Using existing client relationships to develop strategies that position the firm for major infrastructure opportunities Developing new client and industry relationships Assisting with establishing growth plans and objectives Assuring that professional services are commensurate with quality standards, client requirements, and corporate objectives Leading internal and external multidiscipline teams Leading and participating in key project pursuit and teaming strategies Directing technical development of projects from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design also including construction engineering and inspection. Support business development initiatives and interaction with key clients Coordinating with other design disciplines Project Management Leading the preparation of plans, specifications, and bid packages Ensuring that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing the work of others. Providing Training to Staff-level Engineers Job duties will include but are not limited to: Position would be expected to engage with the transportation community through continued involvement with TDOT, AASHTO, ACEC, ITE, TCAPWA, etc. to maintain strong WSP relationships with these entities in furthering project development opportunities. Identify growth opportunities through new and existing markets and clients and drive growth initiative implementation Represent firm through involvement in client and industry events Achieving strong client and stakeholder relationships Mentor and develop staff Provide transportation expertise for current clients and strategic pursuits Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 15+ years’ experience in US transportation & infrastructure sectors including the design and management of municipal projects Professional Engineering Registration (PE) Proven business leadership track record, including established client relationships and knowledge of the East Tennessee market Effective leadership, communication and analysis skills Ability to work in a multi-dimensional organization in an open and collaborative manner Appreciation for the importance of client relationships and delivery of client outcomes Broad knowledge of and experience with technical and project delivery Comfortable in working directly with clients and in the community Understands the trends in the transportation, infrastructure and municipal business Proficiencies and relevant experience in Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with local and state Design Guidelines, Policies and Procedures. Preferred Qualifications: Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable.
