The Production Operations Manager will lead and manage electrical production operations with responsibilities in the areas of all production, new product introduction, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, customer satisfaction, quality assurance, financial management, personnel development, and capability development. Will establish budgets and schedules, ensure performance and set long range objectives and criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success for all electrical manufacturing functions. Must have a strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, strong leadership and communication skills and be able to identify problems and provide direction for the solution.
Develop manufacturing and operational strategic plans and oversee their implementation to ensure maximum capacity utilization in support of achieving corporate strategy, growth and profit objectives.
Provide leadership and direction to the production operations staff in executing a high volume of diverse projects and products, ensuring on-time delivery within planned budget.
Lead the implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including strategic resource allocation, sound manufacturing principles, organizational structure, leadership development, sourcing and integration, production systems and techniques for improved efficiencies and adherence to best practices.
Implement the sales plan by developing an effective production plan to meet the business goals.
Identify and adapt technological advances to meet the group's competitive objectives within the marketplace.
Provide strong leadership to the production team, ensuring high morale, an atmosphere of teamwork, a strong sense of urgency and healthy employee relations at all levels, including on the shop floor.
Ensure production operations are properly staffed and coordinated to perform duties effectively.
Ensure all programs meet or exceed customer expectations through continuous interaction with key internal customers, external customers and strategic partners.
Lead/manage production operations capital planning and expenditures.
Review and approve cost schedule reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facilities requirements forecasts.
Collaborate with other departments in establishing and carrying out responsibilities, coordinating processes and tools and streamlining execution.
Develop and maintain a commitment to quality within production operations.
Implement changes for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures throughout operations.
Review performance against operating plans, budgets and standards. Provide reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approve changes in direction of plans.
Formulate policies, programs, and objectives affecting the schedule, quality, and cost of manufactured products.
Direct and coordinate production according to quality and quantity specifications within cost objectives.
Take an active role in the development, mentoring and coaching of staff.
Work actively with HR to attract, develop, and retain high quality and diverse staff.
Ensure compliance to all group systems, guidelines & policies.
Supervise and provide technical guidance to subordinates.
Coordinate with the Human Resource Department to accurately appraise performance of subordinates.
Work closely with staff to ensure employee related matters are handled in a timely manner.
Develop internal and external communications and reports as needed.
Work under limited supervision and/or direction leading in a dynamic and challenging production environment.
Promote and adhere to corporate and subsidiary policies and procedures.
Other Duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Technical degree in industrial, electrical, or manufacturing engineering preferred. Over 15 years of extensive related experience in manufacturing management. Experience may be substituted for a degree and must be approved by TMG executive management and Director of Human Resources.
Proven leadership skills and hands-on manufacturing experience.
Experience managing cable/harness, circuit card and electrical assembly production.
Domestic non-union multi-plant experience a plus.
10+ years' experience in plant/production management of Department of Defense government contracting.
10+ years with AS/ISO Quality experience and knowledge applied in a supply-chain manufacturing environment.
Experience with quality processes such as PPATH, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc., inventory management and continuous improvement orientation.
Experience in supervising, directing and coordinating personnel activities concerned with production. This would involve but not be limited to knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, standards, machine and equipment capabilities and shop capacities.
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
The ability to mentor junior leaders within the organization.
Proficient with Microsoft Word Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with Project Manager, Deltek or other shop management scheduling software.
