Electronic messaging has become the de facto business record. SSA has over 110,000 email-capable objects throughout the country as well as our related components around the world. These objects consist of user mailboxes, special use mailboxes, and distribution groups. Email within the Agency is a mission critical application to fulfill the goals of SSA service to the public for processing claims, benefits and Medicare applications as well as providing rapid, accurate and timely communication to its employees.
