Responsible for performance of all grounds maintenance functions including mowing, trimming, snow removal, campus greenhouse operations, maintenance of trees, shrubs and flowers and policing for trash and debris removal. Principal Functional Responsibilities 1) Perform mowing, trimming, edging and aerating of campus lawns; remove snow and ice from walkways and parking areas and apply ice melting products for safety. 2) Operate campus greenhouse and cultivate plants & flowers for use on campus grounds; maintain, renovate and/or build campus landscaping. 3) Police campus grounds for trash and debris; keep walkways and parking areas clean of free of debris 4) Plant, transplant and/or prune trees, shrubs and flowers. 5) Perform pesticide applications in accordance with the manufacturer’s label and the Ohio Department of Agriculture to control weeds and insects in the landscape and throughout the campus 6) Change and clean campus exterior refuse containers. 7) Perform auto mechanic responsibilities when needed. 8) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Education/Degrees: High School diploma License: Valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’s license (required). Commercial Applications License (Must obtain within one year of appointment, but not required at time of hiring) Experience: Minimum six months grounds/landscaping maintenance experience. Key Skills, Personal Characteristics, and Key Competencies Ability to perform duties outdoors exposed to variable weather conditions. Availability to be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week. Knowledge of grounds maintenance, equipment and safety procedures. Ability and skill to operate vehicles, tools and equipment to perform duties.
