Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management. The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale. Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale. Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control (WFCRC) Within Wholesale Control, WFCRC is the financial crimes risk control team. Similar to Wholesale Control, WFCRC supports the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. WFCRC is a team of 1,000+ financial crimes and operational risk team members who provide this support through Analytics/Reporting, Control Strategy & Implementation, Governance, Administration, Transactional Reviews/Intelligence, Escalations/Advisory, Control Self-Assurance testing, and Financial Crimes Operations. Each Wholesale line of business control team also has a financial crimes business control team which provides more business specific program execution facilitation. These teams have a dotted line into WFCRC and are part of the larger Wholesale Financial Crimes ecosystem. Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control (WFCRC) Within Wholesale Control, WFCRC is the financial crimes risk control team. Wholesale Financial Crimes Operations (WFCO) Wholesale Financial Crimes Operations (WFCO) is a division within Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control (WFCRC). WFCO supports the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. WFCO is primarily responsible for performing centralized operational functions to comply with enterprise and regulatory BSA/AML requirements. The WFCO performs multiple centralized operations functions that support front line businesses' Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirements and determine risks associated with customer relationships in order to document acceptance and mitigating controls. WFCO is responsible for coordinating with numerous stakeholder groups and front line businesses to manage interdependent programs/projects, as well as coordinate changes driven by BSA/AML policy requirements and business needs. Within WFCO there are approximately 750 financial crimes and operational risk team members who provide support to Wholesale businesses and customers. The organization comprises core and common functional teams across KYC Onboarding, Ongoing Monitoring, Risk Underwriting, and Customer Exits, located in operational centers globally. The Role As a trusted advisor, the Operational Risk Sr Manager will serve as a senior manager within the WFCO organization. This individual will report directly to the head of WFCO and be responsible for establishing and assuring execution of operational risk programs for WFCO. This position will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and developing standards for remediating risk that could arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. To be successful in this role, the Operational Risk Sr Manager will build relationships with key partners, Financial Crimes stakeholders, senior leaders, committees, and appropriate leadership. This position will provide operational risk expertise and consulting to complex initiatives with high risk and provide thoughtful, independent, and credible challenge to support WFCO. This role will also represent WFCO on assigned areas of operational risk that require review and approval by senior management. As a result, this team member will need to consult with and influence executive leadership, senior operational risk and business management to identify, formulate, and implement appropriate operational risk policies, procedures, and controls. Leads initiatives that cross multiple lines of business in scope with significant impact/risk and builds relationships with corporate partners, business heads, Legal, Audit, regulators and industry partners on risk-related topics. Generally has full management responsibility over a team that includes multiple levels of managers. This individual will also serve as the central point of contact for various support partners and external stakeholders. This individual will drive and lead the execution of change processes and routines that result in improved organizational performance. Individual Responsibilities: • Work across WFCO and Wholesale Business Control Financial Crimes teams to establish and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) across WFCO are delivered according to requirements. This will include developing, managing, and administering service management best practices. • Accountable for managing a team and working within workstreams responsible for defining and implementing the WFCO target operating model (TOM). • Manage strategic initiatives related to operational risk policies, procedures, and controls (e.g. remediation of issues, quality control, data clean-up, etc.). • Will leverage knowledge of business, finance, and WFCO operations to lead the design of quantitative reporting and presentations that "tell a story" and enable more informed recommendations and decision-making. • Leverages knowledge of WFCO operational capabilities to solve problems and drive initiatives that result in improved organizational performance. May address issues that result in an improved internal customer experience or more effective coordination with the Wholesale Business Control Financial Crimes teams. • Responds timely to ad hoc deliverables assigned by Head of WFCO or other WFCRC senior leaders. • Will partner with other WFCO groups to create and deliver operational reporting on program health which will include reporting to senior leadership, the Board, and regulatory agencies, as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with other senior leaders across the Wholesale Control organization in the development and execution of company risk management strategies. Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture, which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management 3+ years of management experience Desired Qualifications Experience leading a fast paced, demanding, and deadline driven production environment Knowledge and understanding of Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) Knowledge and understanding of Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Other Desired Qualifications *Prior experience and knowledge with EDD, CDD. • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and eng age in constructive credible challenge and will do so independently when necessary. • Proven ability to foster constructive relationships with peers at other financial institutions, business leaders, and other internal risk management leaders/groups. • Experience working with and providing reporting and updates to senior-level management and Board. Ability to present complex ideas in a straightforward manner and also inspire large teams and effectively influence internal and external constituencies. • Demonstrated focus on team member experience and moving the needle on organizational performance. • Understanding of best-practice risk management practices across financial services industry. • Effective leadership ability to drive successful execution of strategic plans; ability to plan, prioritize and set goals. Must possess a sense of urgency about exceeding the objectives of the role. • Strong interpersonal, influencing skills and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships. • Proven ability to operate in, and achieve objectives in, a highly regulated environment.
