FSA, a rapidly growing professional services company delivering highly qualified personnel in support of the government's mission, is anticipating a vacancy for a Paralegal II. The Paralegal II will offer comprehensive support including legal memorandums, pleading, discovery, briefs, bankruptcy petitions, case management and other paralegal-based services to the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO), District of Maine. A Paralegal II performs, but is not limited to the following duties: * Provide Apprentice examination of legal instruments * Review legal instruments (completeness of information, proper execution) * Conduct research and obtain additional information related to specific cases * Determine correctness of action (per Government regulations, procedures, etc). * Research records (to ascertain conditions that might preclude action) * Provide assistance on instruments * Provide information on instruments * Gather facts for cases and routine reports * Perform initial review of petitions * Verify citations and legal references on legal documents In addition, the District of Maine USAO has been aggressive with in-house training and the creation of unique data bases to increase the efficiency of its workforce and the overall use of technology. The majority of AUSA's are using this new software and technology, which further increases the demand on the legal staff to support their needs of scanning, exporting/importing data, electronic discovery, creation of IPRO databases, etc. The Paralegal II will therefore assist in performing many of these functions. A Paralegal II must meet the following qualifications: * Four year undergraduate degree * Proficiency with numerous software including IPRO, CASEMAP, Quickbooks, and Microsoft Suite * Attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions * Good oral and written communications skills * Valid driver's license * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Access This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
