Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Processes customer orders by telephone, fax, and/or computer. Provides established pricing, delivery, and other related information to customers and company personnel.   Responds to customer questions about billing and orders while providing customers with courteous, knowledgeable service.   Maintains appropriate records and filing. Prepares and maintains required reports, spreadsheets, documents in line with policy and procedures. Handle new customer inquiries; send/receive documents and paperwork timely and accurately with the ability to explain terms and conditions. Obtain Purchase Orders from clients to ensure proper payment and agreement of terms. Communicate with all departments regarding new account set up and the progression of order processing. Prepare cash, check, and credit deposits for drivers and bulk plants. Process customer payment in form of cash, check, or credit. Create tickets for next day customer deliveries. Prepare and maintain records of all Driver tickets. Manage reoccurring company delivery orders by ensuring that a delivery schedule has been set up in the system. General office duties, including maintaining sign in/out record of packages received by UPS/FedEx/USPS/etc. to ensure proper package delivery. Liaison between various vendors, customer base, and internal stakeholders. Cross-trained to back-up the dispatcher role as needed. Cross-trained to support invoicing as needed. Special Projects as assigned.   *All other duties as assigned Education, Experience and Skill Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred. 1 year of customer service experience required. 3 years of customer service experience preferred. High attention to detail with the ability to multitask. Customer focus with the ability to adapt/respond to different types of customer inquiries or concerns. Must work well under pressure and with deadlines. Microsoft Office product knowledge, Microsoft Excel skills specifically preferred. Highly reliable with a friendly disposition.   Licensure/Certification: Valid State Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation is required. Must be able to pass an MVR. CITY OF LAKEWOOD (CO) invites applications for the position of: Variable Traffic Engineering Seasonal Laborer II SALARY: $15.00 Hourly OPENING DATE: 03/08/19   CLOSING DATE: Continuous   JOB SUMMARY: JOB SUMMARY Works in a seasonal capacity for the Signs and Markings crew in the Traffic Engineering Division Mon-Thurs 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasionally, Mon-Fri 7:30 am to 4:00 pm hours may be necessary. Overtime and/or weekend hours are possible.     MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Installs traffic control signs. Prepares or assists in the preparation of equipment for pavement marking and sign installation. Assists in the layout and painting of parking lots. Assists in the installation of pavement markings. Assists in placing guide markers for painting street lane lines. Assists in the removal of non-conforming traffic lines with a grinder. Assists in the sign shop with the sign fabrication/manufacture process (weeding, transferring, rolling material onto aluminum as needed). Completes work logs of materials used, task completed, and crews performing tasks. Maintains equipment when needed. Maintains organized work area. Drives City vehicle and tows trailer. Performs pre and post trip inspections on equipment. Sets up safe work sites including proper use of cones, signs and traffic control. Works independently and as part of a team; follows supervisor's instructions. Participates in weekly scheduled clean-up activities. Must be able to interact with others in a positive manner. Requires regular and prompt attendance. Performs all other duties as assigned.   IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS Assists signal crews as requested by supervisor. Works with other Departments, Divisions, and outside agencies to coordinate work efforts.   ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Supervision Received Receives supervision ranging from close to general depending on the nature of the task from the Traffic Signs & Markings Supervisor or from the Traffic Signs and Markings Specialist III when appropriate. Supervision Given None    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Experience Minimum 18 years of age; previous work related experience preferred, but not required.   Licensure/Certification/Registration Possession of a valid Class C driver's license and good driving record.  KSA'S AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQS: Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with other employees as well as supervisors. Ability to work effectively as a team member. Ability to work productively without constant supervision. Ability to work safely and set up safe work zones. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects such as traffic control barricades, sign blanks, sign poles, markings materials, and other miscellaneous equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; some objects have to be lifted chest high and/or placed on the floor.   Pushing and Pulling: Must be able to push and/or pull a pallet jack with paint totes, bead totes, aluminum sign blanks, sign faces, and other miscellaneous equipment weighing up to 500 pounds.  Must be able to assist in pushing and or pulling a pallet jack with above materials weighing up to 2000 pounds.    Body Positions: Stands, kneels, squats, moves about, climbs stairs and ladders, uses keyboard; drives for extended periods of time.  May work at heights up to 30 feet. Twists, bends and reaches while holding objects. Pounds nails, rivets, and the like into concrete, asphalt, wood, aluminum, etc. Grips and manipulates cans of spray paint as well as a variety of tools on a daily basis.   Hearing: Must be able to hear telephone, radio and audio equipment signals.  Paint truck operations require two-way radio communications. Must be able to hear traffic and warning signals on vehicles.   Vision: Must have good hand/eye coordination for sign making, sign installation and painting operations. Uses vision to drive and to notice hazards while working.   MENTAL REQUIREMENTS   Mathematics: Requires ability to perform simple mathematical calculations to determine quantities of materials used.   Language Ability: Must be able to communicate effectively among team members and public contacts in the field.   Reasoning: Must use judgement to determine when to work independently and when to ask for direction.   WORK ENVIRONMENT Performs work outdoors under adverse weather conditions. Performs work that involves frequent exposure to loud noise and vibrations, smog, dust, machinery, heavy equipment, traffic hazards and heavy traffic. Work involves high degree of public visibility. Work involves contact with employees inside and outside the work unit as well as the public.
