ERPi is currently seeking a full-time Infrastructure Engineer to provide onsite support at our Washington, DC site. The Role: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers. In order to ensure seamless care for Veterans, VA will move toward a single common system by adopting the electronic health record (EHR) system that is being deployed by DoD, which at its core consists of Cerner Millennium. Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software and related support services. This modernization of VA’s health information management systems will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.
This role will:
Support the Technology Integration Office (TIO) within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) as an Infrastructure Engineer
Candidate must posses a large enterprise network engineering background with a strong understanding of technology stack;
Great communication and troubleshooting skills with excellent ability to perform in fast paced, high pressure situations
Participate in technology integration efforts with other engineering and support teams and provide input to network enterprise design architecture
Review and provide expert recommendations on LAN/WAN/WLAN requirements, topologies, connectivity, design guides, standards, processes, and standard operating procedures
Develop written requirements, topologies, design guides, standards, processes, standard operating procedures, deployment plans, and work with multiple organization stakeholders to come to an understanding for document signoff
Consult with various stakeholders, internal and external parties as necessary to complete tasks.
Required Skills and Experience:
At least a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline.
A minimum of 10 years of experience, with 5 of those in network engineering or operations in a large enterprise network. An additional 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Extensive IT experience in all aspects of Cyber Security and a vast array of IT systems involving end user as well as enterprise level networks
Experience designing and implementing systems that meet agency Cyber Security policy and regulations
Experience with Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to represent the team well and effectively communicate technical information to a variety of individuals and groups
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a flexible work environment and across multiple projects and distributed teams as needed
Desired Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with DoD MEDCOI, VA 6500 and DoD 8500 policy documents
Understanding of Ports of Protocols preferred
Experience with Disaster Recovery, COOP, Incident response / remediation as well as with incident analysis preferred
Experience with network commands and tools such as Traceroute, Nslookup, TCPDump, and Wireshark preferred
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI model preferred
Strong knowledge of identified operating system platforms, routers/switches, network protocols, and network infrastructure preferred
High proficiency with designing, implementing, and troubleshooting a wide range of networking platforms and technologies including Cisco, Juniper, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and VPN preferred
Strong technical understanding and experience implementing QoS markings and traffic shaping preferred
Ability to configure and troubleshoot OSPF and BGP network designs preferred
Advanced proficiency with design, implementation, and troubleshooting of enterprise BGP deployments preferred
A foundational understanding of MPLS architecture, deployment strategies, and traffic manipulation preferred
Technical leadership experience and advanced proficiency with protocols, design, configuration and support of datacenter, campus and remote network infrastructure preferred
Technical leadership experience and advanced proficiency with leveraging network management tools and performing packet analysis during incident/problem resolution preferred
Relevant industry standard certifications preferred and current (e.g. ITIL, Security+, Network+, CCNA, CCNP)
