WSP is currently initiating a search for a Maritime Structural Supervising Engineer in our Federal Way, WA office. Our Federal Way office is the center of our Maritime design practice with over 45 Maritime engineers at all levels of their careers. Our team designs projects in the Pacific Northwest and worldwide. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for Maritime projects or groups of smaller capital projects, including the management of schedules, budgets, and client expectations. You will participate in the formulation and presentation of technical concepts in proposal development, during the design phase, and for existing client presentation. Additionally, you will be engaged in the growth and development of our team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff. Duties and Responsibilities: Take responsible charge for supervising the work of staff engineers and self-perform structural calculations and prepare structural drawings and technical specifications. Review of construction phase submittals including respond to Requests for information (RFI) and vendor drawings to assure compliance with drawings and specifications. Prepare technical studies and reports and guide/review the work of staff engineers. Prepare cost estimates for marine projects Manage/ lead projects, tasks and staff for marine facility projects, including various types of cargo terminals (e.g. container, bulk, break-bulk), federal facilities (homeporting piers and shipyards), and clients (port authorities, private terminals, public agencies, etc.). Maintaining schedules, budgets, and profitability. Perform business development and general marketing activities. Maintain positive client relationships. Participate in preparation of technical proposals, presentations, negotiations, and staff estimates. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: 10 - 15 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering. Competency or ability to supervise staff in state-of-the-art computer programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, REVIT, ADINA, Staad.Pro or SAP2000, and Optimoor. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Flexibility to manage concurrent projects. Self-motivated, flexible and capable if working in a fast-paced work environment. Proven mentoring and leading of technical teams. Strong time management and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis immediately. Visa sponsorship not offered for this position. Education & Accreditation Requirement: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college/university in Structural Engineering. A Master’s Degree will be strongly considered but not required. Candidate shall possess a PE registration in the state of Florida or be able to obtain within 6 months. Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card which requires a TSA background check.
