RESPONSIBILITIES Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, service, set up and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems associated with GMP/GLP processes. To maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment for a safe and productive work environment. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service, asset utilization, and helping our customers enhance scientific innovation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The onsite Technician position is to provide preventive maintenance, calibration, repairs and troubleshooting service for all of the refrigeration and HVAC equipment in the building. The Technician will work closely with Engineers and customers to troubleshoot and identify problems in systems and equipment. The Technician will focus on customer service, asset utilization and enhance research scientific innovation through daily activities. The Technician must demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-craft atmosphere, and assist other crafts as needed basis. Technician must be able to perform troubleshooting on VAV/CAV supply and exhaust systems, high and low pressure steam, Chilled Water, Glycol, Pneumatics and Electricity. Technician must have technical skills in pipefitting, brazing, soldering, refrigerant recovery, and pipe threading. This person must also be able to install, test, and repair HEPA filters. The person performing this role must be able to read and understand related read blueprints and have knowledge of all state and local codes. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal, external customers, share knowledge with crafts and peers including process, building and design engineers, and scheduler planner. This position also requires knowledge and capability to perform daily work activities with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Mgmt. Sys.) such as GMARS work order data base system, MS Outlook(email), calendar and network data base systems including word document process and spread sheet activities. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and eight or more years experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES Universal CFC certification required. Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift. Must be able perform daily maintenance activities that require extensive walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, the ability to work in high places, climb stairs and ladders up to and above 8 feet and be comfortable working on ladders, scaffolds, and using lifts. Work may also be required in confined spaces or in hot or extreme cold areas with potential exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, dangerous processes and machinery and loud noises. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor. SAFETY Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work. This includes but is not limited to: 1. Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level, 2. Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE-related requirements at all times, 3. Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc. 4. Report any conditions which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required.
