Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice College of Education and Human Services To Begin January 1, 2020 Position: Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice (Program Manager), College of Education and Human Services. This is a full-time, term, 9-month academic year, non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position providing support to our off campus programs, and reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs. (Summer assignments are contingent upon program needs, teaching opportunities and funding.) This position will be housed on the Carbondale, Illinois campus. Responsibilities: This faculty position will be responsible for program coordination, marketing, recruitment, retention, and teaching. S/he will implement College of Education and Human Services Off Campus Degree Programs policy for undergraduate and graduate programs at multiple off campus locations; assist with establishing enrollment and retention goals; design and implement marketing strategies; conduct site visits at off campus locations across the United States; assist the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Department Chairs with scheduling off campus and on-line courses along with hiring faculty to teach for off-campus programs; supervise the off campus academic advisor, work experience/occupational training evaluator, and independent study course managers; address off campus registration and advising issues; collaborate with SIU Carbondale Extended Campus and SIU Carbondale Veterans Services staff; teach undergraduate/graduate courses as needed/approved; and complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean. Requirements of Candidates: The rank of Assistant Lecturer requires a master’s degree in one of the following areas: workforce education, adult learning, instructional design, higher education, special education, elementary education, or related field. The rank of Assistant Professor of Practice requires an earned doctorate with a focus in one of the following: workforce education, adult learning, instructional design, higher education, special education, elementary education, or related field. Experience in two or more of the following: teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (postsecondary); coordinating/managing educational program(s) for adult learners; academic advising; marketing educational programs; and/or recruitment and retention of students. Experience supervising subordinate personnel. Ability to travel outside of the state via airplane, train, and/or motor vehicle. Ability to pass background checks at United States military installations in order to access our OCDP sites. Experience in a military workplace environment is preferred.
