Description: General Purpose: The Network Administrator role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house Network WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN and Network Security systems that support core organizational functions. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning Network components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. The Network Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Duties and Responsibilities: Co-lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements for all Networks throughout the organization. Participate in the design and review of new and existing networks. Coordinate with systems administrator, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of the network to meet company objectives. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems found in Routers, Switches, Wireless Controllers, Access Points, Firewalls, Email and web filters, and other related network devices. Ensure that Network devices comply with established policies, security standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines. Monitor and test system performance; provide statistics and reports. Recommend and execute modifications to Network devices in order to improve efficiency, reliability, performance and security. Conduct research on Network-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts. Review and deploy new firmware, signatures, IOS versions and vendor-supplied patches/ updates according to best practices. Provide guidance to junior members of the IT team. Ensure that any new network hardware integration into company networks meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications. Take an active role in cross-departmental projects when needed or tasked. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Ability to conduct and facilitate training sessions, presentations, and meetings for a deployment of a project when needed or tasked. Build, develop, and grow any business relationships both inside and outside of the company for vital success of any project. Develop best practices and tools for project execution. Administration, configuration, design and deploy new interior and perimeter security monitoring devices such as Wireless Authentication, Intrusion Detection, Antivirus Applications, Email filtering and Internet Security. On-call for after-hours support via cell phone. All other duties as assigned. .
General Qualifications, Skills & Abilities: Bachelors Degree in the field of computer science and one year direct work experience in the Information Technology field OR technical diploma / certificate in the field of Computer Science and three years direct work experience in the Information Technology field. Strong familiarity with Cisco Network Devices, such as Routers, Switches, Access Points, Firewalls and other related network devices. Strong understanding of network subnets, VLANS, routing, topology and design. Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies including VPN, web filtering tools, and cloud-based solutions. Basic understanding, troubleshooting and deployment capabilities of end-user hardware and software Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Technically competent with various software programs to perform daily tasks pertaining to network administration. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines. Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies. Customer service skills a must. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial. Overtime may be required in order to meet project deadlines. Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects. Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings. High lift or Scissors lift license for troubleshooting and deploying plant related network equipment. Physically able to lift up to 60lbs. Some travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with vendors and off-site project deployment including air travel.
