INTERNSHIP - ESTIMATING LOCATION Montgomery, AL (Home Office) DURATION May 18th, 2020 - August 7th, 2020 JOB SUMMARY Prepares quantity survey take-off and call work for specific divisions of construction projects to assist in developing bid proposals. After contract award, assists in the buy-out process when applicable. RESPONSIBILITIES Caddell Construction is seeking an Estimating Intern to assist in preparing bids large commercial projects in excess of $10M. The Estimating Intern prepares quantity survey takeoff, pricing summaries and call work for major divisions of construction projects to assist in developing proposals. Also has buy-out responsibilities after contract award when applicable. Reads and interprets contract documents relating to the assigned major divisions. Prepares accurate quantity surveys and pricing summaries. Reviews estimate/sub quote files to gain information for current bids. Soliciting subcontractor/vendor pricing information. Prepares spreadsheets and coordinates with estimating bid team members for bid day. Logs and files bid documentation after bid day for estimate/sub quote file. Attends pre-bid conferences and site visits. Negotiates and writes subcontracts and purchase agreements. REQUIREMENTS Minimum high school diploma/GED and seven-years of construction related estimating experience required. Or, four year degree and 5 years estimating experience. Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance, if required. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Experienced with estimating software. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Prioritizes conflicts in managing multiple tasks on assignments simultaneously. TSS/Security Superintendent - International LOCATIONS International - Locations Vary RESPONSIBILITIES Manages field operations specifically relating to physical security, temporary and building technical security systems, in order to achieve a satisfactory, orderly level of production by crafts and subcontractors. Works with client to maintain site security during construction and ensures compliance with project accreditation. Supervises the installation of permanent building security systems. Enforces all relevant safety and quality control policies and procedures in assigned area. Ensures that work meets the owner's expectations, produces satisfactory profits, meets time limitations and contractual requirements. Works closely with project superintendent and project manager as required, in formulating, discussing and finalizing the overall plan of operations, job layout, job schedule, etc. Manages the day-to-day work of crafts and subcontractors in field, delegates work through foreman and/or subcontractor representatives. Maintains regular communications with project staff to ensure that site security controls are effectively implemented and followed and that building security systems meet government requirements. Reviews security requirements, plans, and specifications with project manager and project superintendent to ensure that security controls are understood and maintained. Participates in weekly progress meetings with subcontractors. Assists in preparation of plan at beginning of job, for receiving, storing & handling materials as required. Maintains best possible relationship with owner. Strives to develop spirit of cooperation and respect between Caddell and representatives of the other partners on the project. Performs additional assignments per project manager's and project superintendent's direction. REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience: Minimum high school diploma/GED and 15 years total construction management experience required. Four-year degree in building science, construction management, or engineering and five years total construction management experience preferred. Experience and/or training preferred in security systems to be used in both temporary and permanent systems. Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Current clearance, or the ability to obtain, a Department of Defenseminimum secret security clearance required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and management skills required. Requires excellent technical management skills with emphasis on designing, implementing and maintaining technical security systems. Strong client relations skills are a must. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage costs and control schedule. Excellent knowledge of safety requirements. Ability to coach, lead and motivate multinational and multi-disciplined employees. Shows leadership, concise execution of plans, vision of project future, and effective communication of vision to subordinates, integrity, and strong communication skills. Experience and/or training preferred in security systems to be used in both temporary and permanent systems.
