WSP is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for a full-time Lead Water Resources Engineer for our Portland, Oregon office. The successful candidate must have the proven ability to work with other engineering disciplines, owners and design teams to implement water resource design, balancing cost of construction, maintenance and effective use of right-of-way. The successful candidate will also act as a specialist in providing technical guidance for complex and unique assignments, applying diversified knowledge of water-related design principles and practices, as well as independent decision-making on significant technical problems. Qualified candidates should have well-rounded stormwater consulting experience that may include stormwater treatment and flow control design, watershed master planning, flood control management, stormwater best management practice evaluation, stormwater/watershed modeling, bridge and culvert hydraulics, fish passage design or regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead teams to plan and design municipal and transportation related stormwater drainage and water resources engineering projects
Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses using simulation software
Prepare documents including reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
Provide technical engineering direction and workload planning as needed to junior engineering staff
Provide input on budget and schedule estimates;
Support business development on a variety of water resource and interdisciplinary projects
Promoting water resource capabilities by presenting at various conferences, seminars and client meetings.

Minimum of 7 years of related post-graduate work as a Civil, Water Resource or Environmental Engineer;
Work-related experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design of stormwater systems, including water quality treatment and flow control facilities
Experience with developing and overseeing plans, specifications, and technical drainage / hydraulics reports for public roadway projects, ensuring complete and accurate work in accordance with good engineering practice
Experience in stream, river and estuary restoration; fish passage; bridge and culvert hydraulics, bank stabilization and bioengineering, green infrastructure, flood hazard mitigation, and basin planning a plus
Proficiency in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Bentley Microstation design software
Experience with the application of water resources models such as SWMM, WWHM, MGS Flood, HSPF, HEC-RAS, TRUST, or SRH2D
Ability to identify opportunities and develop strategies to win targeted pursuits.

Authorization to immediately work in the United States
Demonstrated experience with City of Portland, Oregon DOT, Washington DOT, Washington County, Clean Water Services, City of Seattle, King County, or Clark County and other local agencies is preferred.
Demonstrated experience with task and project management on multidisciplinary design teams.
Demonstrated business development experience
Education and Certifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Oregon required or the ability to obtain an Oregon license within 6 months of hire.
