As an Associate Oil Scheduler you will work with the oil traders, to manage & coordinate all matters that involve the safe, efficient & economical scheduling, transportation, delivery & related administration of refined products. This job is an in office role that requires to be on call. Operations are conducted in a maritime environment 24/7/365. In this role, you will maintain organized records & documents in line with company and departmental policies. If you are great at communication (verbally and written form), have strong mathematical skills, and can work in a fast paced environment, this is the job for you.

You will maintain contacts and develop sound business relationships with independent inspectors, vessel and barge operators, ship brokers, ships agents, counterparty operations staff and other pertinent marine personnel. Working with other members of the Oil Supply team, you will review and suggest modifications (as necessary) to new contracts, confirmations, terminal agreements, throughputs and storage deals. Being able to effectively communicate and update Sprague traders, terminal managers, sales, administrative staff and external counterparties regarding product movements and deliveries.

  • Efficiently manage the associated documents and administration that are integral to refined products logistics and scheduling, including developing expertise in the SolArc IT system used to capture and process pertinent information associated with product supply movements
  • Follow established procedures related to the physical movement of product via pipelines, barges, vessels and stock and book transfers
  • Observe physical product inventories, calculate run out dates based on historic liftings and advise Sprague traders of resupply needs
  • Coordinate and schedule all physical movements to optimize our time-chartered barges and anticipate and follow up on the needs for spot equipment needed to meet supply requirements
  • Accurately calculate demurrage, 2-ports/shifts, claims and any other vessel expenses and accrue costs as necessary
  • Participate in other pertinent Oil Supply activities or projects as necessary, e.g., testing of new SolArc releases and providing support or assistance to other members of the Refined Products team as appropriate

This role reports to the Portsmouth, NH office.

Job Requirements

  • BS/BA or higher-level degree from an accredited college or university or directly related energy experience in lieu of education
  • Strong mathematical/numerical/analytical abilities
  • Comfortable with computers and general working knowledge and strong understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Teamwork style and orientation
  • Strong ability to multitask -- juggle many balls at the same time
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment and relate to customers/outside contacts and fellow employees
