The position:

AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (NEWEG)-Journeyman to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The salary range of this position is $68,000.00 to $90,000.00, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

A typical day as a Software Developer (NEWEG)-Journeyman may include:

  • Utilizes computer programming knowledge related to interfacing flight simulation and complex data processing to hardware for testing of various integrated Radio Frequency (RF) receiver systems
  • Executes tests using directly connected systems and free space radiating in anechoic chambers
  • Uses video game style software systems to drive synthetic platforms in a dynamic mission representative battlespace
  • Executes real-time radar software models and controls high fidelity RF generation equipment
  • Possesses the ability to work in a team environment in order to generate customized and innovative solutions for understanding complex problems
  • Works closely with integrated cross-functional teams, test support personnel and customer representatives to solve complex problems in an ever-changing environment 
  • Solves problems with enthusiasm and persistence
  • Possesses the ability to learn quickly and is able to graft new concepts and applications into their core of technical expertise
  • Communicates ideas with test site customers to design, develop and deliver top-notch data products
  • Supports RF ground test events in laboratories, anechoic chambers and active flight lines
  • Uses Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software to develop a complex electromagnetic environment and flight paths
  • Configures customized stimulation hardware to support complex RF environment testing
  • Develops software for an advanced synthetic testing environment
  • Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
  • Develops C++ language code
  • Programs using C++, Python 3 and HTML
  • Develops Parallel processes, threading and process communication
  • Develops Web-based applications using developmental technology
  • Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements

Job Requirements

Must-haves:

  • BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately and creatively
  • Ability to work comfortably in a complex environment
  • Ability to Communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively organize, schedule and coordinate work phases and tasking
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience/Education in scripting, database and programming languages such as C++

Physical environment and working conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.

The physical environment requires the employee to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and picking up items less than 50 lbs.
