Job Description


Customer Master Data Specialist will be responsible for the creation or updates to existing customer accounts to ensure the accuracy and quality of customer master data as well as maintaining appropriate customer documentation for audit and tax purposes.  Includes name changes and transfer of ownership updates.  The position will maintain data accuracy and cleanliness by performing data integrity checks and cleansing, training and supporting requesters, and researching and resolving issues.


Role will require frequent communication with branch personnel including branch managers and Sales Representatives as well as credit financing and OTC Collectors. 


Success will depend on having a “customer first” attitude and a willingness to learn new functions and positively contribute to team performance. 


  • Process customer master data requests in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring policies, procedures and SLAs are followed.
  • Work directly with internal business partners to ensure data requests are complete and comply with standards.
  • Validate that customers being added are legitimate entities by confirming their existence via third party sources (Dunn and Bradstreet, state registrations, domain searches)
  • Verify financial health and appropriate tax documentation as well as confirm customer is not on the Federal Bureau of Industry and Security’s list of excluded persons or companies
  • Leverage analytical tools to identify, research, and correct/update data discrepancies, duplicates, and stale dated records.  Assist in duplicate identification and data cleansing of master data loads as part of integration activities.
  • Provide support to requesters by training new users on the process, answering queries, and resolving issues.  Respond to external inquiries from customers and outside agencies.
  • Assist in the development of forms, procedures and work instructions.  Identify data quality or process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in master data related projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with branch personnel including Branch Managers and Sales Representatives 
  • Establish rapport with branches and other Patterson teams, build effective relationships, and share wins and successes
  • Provide customer and branch analytical support for OTC Manager and Shared Services Director


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ experience in customer service or a business environment; strong customer orientation
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positively contribute to the OTC and Shared Services team environment
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Patterson’s values and professionalism through appropriate conduct at all times
  • SAP/ERP and Customer Master experience highly preferred
  • Proven analytical experience with high aptitude for research, analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to apply policies and standards consistently
  • Comfort in reinforcing policy and best practices; ability to push back appropriately when needed
  • Has exceptional organizational, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills and shows a great attention to detail
