Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: $40,000 - $70,000

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Electronic Service Technician plays a key role in supporting in market wireless products as well as providing test support for new products in development. Will work in conjunction with field support teams, customer account managers, project engineers. Products include wireless location tracking devices and Android based tablets. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for organizing and tracking inventory of all returned and refurbished hardware by documenting detailed notes/ reports in inventory management and CRM systems 
  • Follow standard operating procedures to disassemble, test, and analyze hardware to diagnose reasons for device failure 
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, debugging hardware defects on a PCB board level
  • Create test/debug cables and equipment as required
  • Service/repair any hardware that can be refurbished in house and determine when hardware should be recalled and returned to the manufacturer
  • Identify defects that require further escalation and analysis by Project or Test Engineers
  • Log all inspection, service, testing notes in Redmine
  • Perform final QA for RMA devices before return
  • Flash latest FW/SW on all devices/cables before deployment
  • Perform incoming inspection of PVT boards and finished products  
  • Maintain organization of all service equipment and tools 
  • Support testing team as needed to support new software / hardware releases 
  • Generate detailed written reports to management to detail RMA progress reports and detailed failure analysis reports
  • Assist in creating written SOP documentation for internal and external use 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate's Degree in science, technology, or engineering field or  2+ years of experience in a hands on technical support role 
  • Experience with PCBs: soldering,  replacing, troubleshooting components at the micro-level and reviewing schematics when needed.
  • Well versed in operating electrical test equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment 
  • The ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (8+ hours/day) 
  • The ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (with or without assistance) 
  • The ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, reach, stoop and crouch 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job includes near, far, peripheral and depth and ability to adjust focus (with or without the use of corrective lenses)
