Job Description

Overview

The Quality Engineer will act an integral role of the global quality function by focusing on quality planning to reduce costs associated with appraisal and reaction. The main areas of focus will be on customer issues, supplier quality, new product introduction, and internal Black Box processes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and assess customer contract quality requirements and the organization's capability to comply with requirements;, ensure that these requirements are flowed down to departments, suppliers, subcontractors and vendors
  • Ensure compliance to contractual requirements and documented procedures
  • Respond to customer issues utilizing containment, correction, root-cause analysis, and corrective action
  • Develop and execute plans to qualify new suppliers
  • Monitor supplier quality and work with suppliers to address quality issues
  • Participate in quarterly business reviews with key suppliers
  • Assist in maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
  • Analyze system quality data to determine performance and prioritize improvement activity
  • Identify areas for process improvement by using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and non-value added processes
  • Conduct first-article inspections of incoming parts and outgoing products according to the technical specifications and applicable quality standards

Qualifications

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, such as Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a combination of related work experience and training is required
  • 5 years of work experience in a quality function or similar discipline. Will consider a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with supplier quality (process flow, PFMEA, control plans, FAI)
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Understanding of quality and workmanship standards (ISO, IPC, etc.)
  • Experience with circuit boards (PCB, SMT, componentry, etc.)
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications, statistical software, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve complex issues and make decisions without supervisory assistance
  • Ability to interpret specifications and product requirements
  • Excellent verbal & written skills and sound interpersonal skills
  • Very minimal travel, but may need to travel to other Black Box facilities, Suppliers and Customers infrequently
