Under the direction of the Manager of Health and Safety Resources, the Program Generalist is responsible for a full range of activities which ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the Health and Safety program to support Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) child care providers. This person will be highly self-motivated, professional, capable of managing their work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.  It is expected that the Program Generalist will promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement, communication, competent people and clear priorities. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organizational standards.


  1. Maintain knowledge of the Health and Safety Resources program’s policy and procedures. Provides customer service support responding to telephone calls, emails, and all other inquiries. Provide administrative support for program.
  2. Serve as department point person for other IAFC programs and maintain a clear understanding of all IAFC programs and how best to utilize their services for FNN providers.
  3. Creates and maintains a repository of resources, including external referral list, program microsite etc.
  4. Works to understand project concepts, objectives and approach. Takes assigned projects from original concept through final implementation
  5. Reviews, analyzes, and creates detailed documentation of business process improvement and reporting and user needs, including workflow, program functions, departmental trends, and steps required to develop or modify improvement programs that will positively impact operational efficiencies. Identifies and coordinates communication and assignments among staff to meet the project requirements.
  6. Works with IT and Marketing to ensure that business requirements are adequately reflected in existing and new software applications.  Serves as department’s marketing liaison for regular communication/updates.
  7. Assists with the development of training and process improvement requirements of the program/department. Presents findings and works with staff to design and implement training and development initiatives that will continuously upgrade the skills and capabilities for staff. 
  8. Use several databases to access child care provider information including but not limited to Child Care Management System (CCMS), Data Tracking Program (DTP) and Salesforce.
  9. Other Functions:  The organization may assign other functions to the job at its discretion.


Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours and six months to one year related experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
