Job Description

The Quality Technician, under the direction of the Quality Manager, Quality Team Lead and Quality Technician Lead, will be responsible for making decisions regarding product quality within the designated Cell. The Quality Technician must/will possess considerable skills, knowledge and experience related to adhering to quality specifications and performing quality checks within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. The incumbent will display a commitment to AZEK Core Values.

Job Requirements

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Acts as auditor for quality results of Cell
• Acts as point of contact for Cell Technical Lead regarding quality
• Performs product quality checks every two hours
• Performs hourly part checks
• Responsible for use/handling of quality measuring devices
• Responsible for accurate completion of quality paperwork
• Audits color and part checks
• Responsible for saving/scrapping decisions
• Owns “Red tag process” (marking product of questionable quality) for Cell
• Audits process set point
• Performs line clearance / first article inspection
• Generates product package labels for cell
• Audits label and rate schedule
• Collects flex samples
• Maintains standards for product quality-testing areas within plant
• Operates in a manner that provides value to the team
• Additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Experience:
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) preferred; Experience with ISO9000/QS9000/TS16949 Quality Systems & Auditing, a plus
Four year business-related engineering degree acceptable substitute for previous work experience requirements
Certifications & Licenses:
Meet qualification and certification requirements established by TimberTech"s Training Resources
and Knowledge (TRAK) program
Other Requirements:
Working understanding of TimberTech products and processes, TimberTech product quality requirements and part print reading; Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally; Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities; Strong mathematical skills; Must be able to accurately read quality measuring tools (i.e. caliper,
micrometer, square, and tape measure); Good communication skills; ability to speak clearly and
persuasively in positive or negative situations; Must be self-directed and motivated and able to
multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
