Balance Staffing is currently hiring for an Automation Test Engineer to join one of our electric power distribution clients in Franklin, WI. This individual will be part of the QA Automation Test Engineering group, the ideal candidate will have the primary responsibilities for specifying, designing, building, programming, verification & validation testing, commissioning, deployment, and technical support for automated test systems used in Production Operations and Contract Manufacturers.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering is required.
  • 6 - 10 years of experience designing and developing automated test system assemblies, fixtures, and tooling for production.
  • Strong skills and experience in 3D CAD modeling and design tools (Solid Edge, Solidworks).
  • Strong skills and experience creating and maintaining design files and BOMs using PLM tools (Enovia 3DX, SmarTeam).
  • Understanding of both electrical power and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience in medium/high volume manufacturing of highly reliable electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Well-versed in DFM/DFT techniques.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, FEA, and FMEA.
  • Proficiency in using lab instrumentation and rapid prototyping equipment (3D printing, data acquisition systems, scopes, DMMs, load cells, force gauges, electrical & pneumatic actuators, etc.).
  • Prefer candidates with experience in the design and development of automated test system assemblies, fixtures, and tooling for testing high voltage equipment such as reclosers, circuit breakers, switches, vacuum interrupters, and actuators.
  • Prefer candidates with experience working with factory automation and robots for automated assembly lines and inspection.
  • Prefer candidates with LabView software experience.
  • Ability to work hands-on, independently, and in cross-functional, multi-cultural project teams.
  • Ability to interface with internal customers and stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and plans.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO:9001.
  • Ability to use Microsoft products and CAD tools such as Zuken E3, AutoCAD, Visio.
  • Experience using agile management and defect tracking tools (Confluence, JIRA).
  • Enthusiasm, drive, a sense of urgency with strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and teaming skills.
  • Proven ability to manage working on multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Capacity to deal with a high workload and deadline pressure including the ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
