Proposal Editor

Provides guidance to a proposal team in developing strategies for responding to and preparing materials for proposals, qualifications packages, and client presentations. Establishes production schedule and expedites various items to ensure that they are completed by the designated due date. May also serve in a similar capacity for the preparation of the annual business plan, various business development reports, and presentations to senior management. Proofreads and/or edits drafts of documents created by others for spelling, grammar, clarity of communication, and consistency in formatting. Resolves production problems within a demanding timeframe. The Business Development Specialist at this level has a greater involvement in overall proposal planning and strategy, and also plays a key role in developing formal presentations to major clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and organizes all details for the production of proposals, qualifications packages, and client presentations. Reviews bid and qualification request documents to identify items to be included in response to Request for Proposal (RFP). Provides administrative guidance to members of proposal team in developing strategy to be used. Establishes production schedule and develops resource plan to ensure a timely response.

  • Reviews and confirms that the resource plan is adequate to ensure all production milestones will be met. Establishes backup delivery plans as required.

  • Follows up with members of the proposal team on status of all proposal elements and expedites as required.

  • Edits and organizes all written technical materials supplied by support groups including organization of chapters, tables, exhibits, and attachments. Provides graphic/layout assistance to help ensure that a quality proposal is produced. Writes significant portions of the proposal (both technical and non-technical).

  • Oversees the preparation of audio/visual materials for formal client presentations.

  • Prepares reports on proposal budgets and expenditures.

  • Serves in a lead capacity for the generation of the annual business plan, presentations to senior management, and various business development reports, such as GPS summary sheets to be presented in BD meeting and win ratio analyses.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, English/Journalism, or related field (or equivalent) and typically 5+ years of related work experience, including at least 3+ years of experience in proposal development and technical writing.

  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.

  • In addition, a demonstrated proficiency in keyboard skills and a working knowledge of MS Windows and related software for desktop publishing, graphics, word documents, spreadsheets, database management, and client presentations, as well as a thorough knowledge of the proposal development process, is also required.

The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $10,000.00.
