Job DescriptionJob SummaryResponsible for developing, implementing and sustaining programs, policies, and practices related to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulatory compliance and risk management for the supply chain. This role in partnership with the business unit and Corporate stakeholders will develop consistent, effective EHS programs and practices, provide training tools and processes for measuring effective outcomes with a focus on Environmental. Utilizes compliance program knowledge and experience to apply an understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory bodies and compliance requirements and risks associated with these areas. Provides insights and guidance to leadership on compliance risks and implications for assigned business unit leadership. Leads a multi-faceted team with operations throughout Walgreens' territories. Job ResponsibilitiesProvides day-to-day support in the management of compliance issues by building effective relationships and communicating expectations directly to team members and management at all levels of the organization. Provides practical, value-added recommendations to address opportunities identified in the compliance program.Serves as a liaison with business partners and subject matter experts across the Walgreens Family of Companies. Works with internal and external compliance Subject Matter Experts to partner with Supply Chain on the appropriate dissemination and communication of pertinent compliance program information, regulatory information, policy and procedures, and guideline changes to affected team members across the Walgreens Family of Companies.Coordinates with divisional compliance leaders to promote/ communicate the importance of compliance throughout the business units. Serves as a strategic business partner and coach to ensure that the company culture of compliance becomes a natural element in day-to-day business. Keeps functional management informed of the short, mid and long-term goals of Walgreens compliance programs.Effectively communicates compliance expectations to all levels of Walgreens business unit's team members, throughout the Walgreens Family of Companies. Partners with the appropriate business owners to participate in the appropriate dissemination and communication of regulation, policy, and guideline changes to affected personnel across the organization.Provides team members with guidance and training on Walgreens compliance programs related to Supply Chain (including policies, procedures etc.), including but not limited to the areas of transportation, the Distribution Center facility (i.e.environmental, etc.) transportation, customs, and regulatory compliance programs.Actively participates in compliance risk assessment of the level of risk/exposure of Walgreens locations related to applicable federal state and local laws/regulations; works with key Supply Chain contacts to ensure a compliance plan is in place to address priority risks identified. Assists with compliance concerns, communicates relevant information to the appropriate corporate area of responsibility, and ensures proper mitigation and follow-up to the exceptions noted. Assists in the assessment. Liaises with Supply Chain operations/contacts, Legal, other key business units, and other Compliance Office personnel on any regulator audits or inquiries. Coordinates with Legal and Government Relations to act as an additional contact with regulatory bodies and as a liaison with external counsel and consultants on compliance matters as needed.Conducts, documents, reports, monitors and performs follow-up on Walgreens facility reviews in Supply Chain and Distribution Centers. Partners with Supply Chain to advise management in the development of corrective action plans in response to regulator(s)' identification of noncompliance. Performs follow-up monitoring, audits, and/or reviews as generated by the external auditors, regulatory agencies, etc. to ensure corrective action plans have been adequately implemented. Coordinates with other governance functions (Internal Audit, ERM, IT compliance, etc.) regarding assessment of risk and compliance audit related activities. Coordinates with Internal Audit regarding assessment of risk and compliance audit related activities as appropriate.Remains current with applicable regulatory compliance regulations through review of publications, participation in industry associations, attending training sessions, etc.Maintains a process to receive and respond to internal complaints and questions related to compliance.Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports. Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplaceInteracts with direct reports and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs. External Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in regulatory and/or supply chain compliance and/or operations OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 6 years of experience in regulatory and/or supply chain compliance and/or operations.Experience analyzing and/or reporting data in order to identify issues, trends or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.Experience establishing and communicating compliance procedures and policies.Experience working with regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, state and local governments, Attorney General).Experience with processes that track, monitor, trend and analyze regulatory requirement changes, and external compliance communications from regulators.Experience addressing risk in a way that is mindful of both regulatory requirements and business objectives.Experience identifying, analyzing and prioritizing compliance risks and determining the potential impact to organization as well as experience constructing approaches to address risks that are mindful of both regulatory requirements and business objectives.Experience interpreting, analyzing and acting upon the results of monitoring operational and compliance based metrics.Experience in defining and implementing corrective action plans; able to take innovative approaches for process improvements and take the lead, as needed, on the implementation of key enhancements/projects.Experience with regulator websites, technology and available reference material.Experience researching, identifying, interpreting and communicating regulatory requirements to all levels of the organization.Experience establishing and developing an annual compliance plan, including compliance training and oversight.Experience working across diverse cultures and tailoring communications to the audience.Experience working and communicating cross-functionally across many departments.At least 1 year experience of cross functional team leadership.Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
