*D.R. Horton, Inc.*is currently looking for a*_Associate Region Counsel-WA_*. The right candidate will, under the direction of the Region Counsel, provide support, assistance and advice on all regions legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition. Review and revise contracts and home purchase agreements. Ensure divisions' contracts, programs and policies comply with all applicable laws.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, development, and disposition, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, handling closings, consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessary
Review and revise homebuyer contract documents
Provide advice regarding RESPA issues, FHA/VA compliance and other issues
Review and revise subcontractor contract documents and handle disputes
Respond to government inquiries and complaints
Provide advice regarding legal issues in construction, home sales and warranty
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to travel overnight
Coordinate outside counsel as necessary
Review marketing contracts and programs and drafting documentation and disclosures as necessary
Provide advice regarding various region matters
Other duties as assigned
Must possess a Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) and be a licensed attorney
Two to six years of experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate
Prior experience with corporate or environmental law
Strong communication skills
Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
