Role We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who specializes in backend services and architecture, a beacon for technology talent and an advocate for engineering best practices. You will be part of an agile team, influence technology decisions across the organization, and help deliver solutions to world-class, global platforms. Responsibilities Implement best practices in code quality, DevOps provisioning, monitoring, and security Architect and develop microservices and asynchronous processes Leverage AWS cloud services Collaborate with a team of engineers, designers, product managers and researchers to refine and build products Identify, prioritize and implement platform improvements in a data-driven way Define, scope and estimate large scale projects Mentor other engineers









Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field such as information systems, mathematics, or computer science or equivalent work experience. Consideration given to equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 - 7+ years of experience as a professional software engineer Fluent in Python, able to learn languages as necessary Experience building microservices and composing large-scale applications Experience with relational, NoSQL, data warehousing and event sourcing databases Experience with asynchronous and functional programming techniques Minimum of 3 years of cloud engineering experience (AWS preferred) Minimum of 3 years of containerization experience (Docker preferred) along with container orchestration Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming, multiprocessing, multithreading, database design, domain modeling, RESTful interface design, OAuth2 and public-key cryptography Working knowledge of queuing technologies like Kafka, AWS SQS Working knowledge of pub/sub messaging like AWS SNS, RabbitMQ Working knowledge of search technologies like Elasticsearch Comfort with Agile/Scrum software development cycles Effective collaboration, communication, and leadership skills Our team & what we offer A competitive compensation package including medical/dental/vision/401(k)/disability Parental leave Dedication to your career through coaching and learning and development plans Remote work during heightened COVID-19 risks Based in Seattle, WA as office life resumes
