Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP USA is looking for exceptional candidates for the position of Assistant Project Manager for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools project in Miami, FL.   Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) approved the issuance of a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond for renovating facilities, updating technology, building school replacements, expanding student capacity and enhancing facility safety. Our staff will be tasked to maintain a rollout schedule that will see every school in Miami-Dade County improved, helping ensure a safe and beneficial future learning environment for students. Scope of Services may include land acquisition assistance; assistance with the selection of design and construction professionals; planning, coordination, administration and management oversight of projects and other related services.   Job Duties:
  • Assists in a broad range of activities associated with pre-design, design, pre-construction, construction (including all phasing), closeout, occupance and warranty
  • Assists in enforcement for multiple complex and mulit-faceted new construction, renovations and modernization projects
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and reports the project management activities of multiple project teams with regard to educational facilities
  • Coordinates/assists in all aspects of project activities with Capital Improvements staff, other MDCPS departments, school staff and other adiministrative personanel
  • Assists as project liason on all matters related to project design, construction and closeout
  • Assists in the collection, preparation, input and management of project tracking software for multiple projects
  • Assists in other duties and responsiblities that may be required as it relates to project management

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of  1 year of experience in project/construction coordination of commercial and/or public facilities
  • Strong management and communication skills
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or other related field
  • Negotiation skills
