Systems Engineer

Summary 

We are looking for an energetic System/SW Engineer that will act as the Technical Lead and main engineering POC within the Comtech EF Data organization for the NetVue Product. This person will act as the  Company’s Engineering technical representative for the NetVue product, providing support to our Professional Services Organization (PSO)/Engineering Support Center(ESC) organization for escalated customer issues,  while also supporting the various needs of our Skyline NetVue development and support team members. This person will eventually direct the technical requirement for future features and upgrades, as well as, work directly with the various Comtech Heights and Skyline engineering departments to facilitate product and features integration. This person will also interface with various Comtech EF Data Test department team members to provide any needed technical support and training, while also assisting in creating and updating product testing procedures and requirements. This position will present a steep learning curve and require a self-starter attitude with a broad range of skills and a wiliness to dig deep into various areas of our entire Heights Network platform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Become the Comtech EF Data Technical expert on the NetVue platform and related Heights Network concepts
• Define and produce technical requirements for new product features and upgrades
• Setup, maintain, and support various NetVue test systems for both Comtech and Skyline personnel
• Provide NetVue technical assistance to various Comtech organization including PSO and System Test
• Provide direct technical support to end customers for both escalated issues and product questions
• Create various types of product documentation including; user manuals, support procedures, and feature application notes both for internal and external use
• Evaluate new, upcoming technical trends and DataMiner features and work with Skyline team members to support the integration of such items into the NetVue platform.
• Ability to troubleshoot simple to moderately complex communication equipment and software with limited supervision.  
• Ability to follow and execute test procedures and provide feedback on improvements.
• Reports, tracks and monitors product performance, capabilities, and defects.
• Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.

Qualifications

• Experience in setting up and configuring network equipment and software; such as Windows OS, Routers, Ethernet Managed Switches, VLANs
• Experience with Network management technologies including SNMP
• Ability to perform IP network related debugging and analysis utilizing tools such has Wireshark and MIB browsers.
• One (1) plus years of experience in programming; C/C++, Python and Java preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related work experience is desirable.
