We are currently looking for an Associate Field Technician/Field Technician/Sr. Field Technician for our Gramercy, LA office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out daily operations and maintenance tasks associated with pipeline activities and to assist with operations and maintenance of Gulf South’s facilities located in the Baton Rouge and Gramercy, LA operating area. You will be responsible for environmental health & safety and reliability for natural gas transmission through the pipeline system. Specific duties will consist of, but are not limited to, valve inspection and maintenance, tank gauging, pipeline locating, pipeline patrolling, gas sampling, damage prevention, one-calls, corrosion control, preventive pipeline maintenance and operations related to meter station, valve site and right of way maintenance, gas quality monitoring and assisting with construction and repairs of pipelines and associated facilities. Additionally, you will be trained and expected to learn some gas measurement functions including, but not limited to, operating and maintaining pressure regulating, overpressure protection and flow control equipment. This position may occasionally be required to assist at other nearby areas and will be responsible for recognition and reporting of abnormal and safety related operating conditions, accident and near miss reporting, as well as emergency response. In addition, you will be responsible for regulatory compliance, operations, maintenance, and repair procedures as associated with DOT, industry standards, manufacturer, and company guidelines as they relate to facility equipment and appurtenances. You will be expected to respond to callouts and will be part of the on-call rotation related to pipeline operations and for responding to emergency or abnormal situations and will be required to live within 30 miles of the Gulf South Area Office located in Gramercy, LA in order to respond to call outs expediently and will be required to complete Core Blocks in Safety, Environmental and Company policies and procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
*High school diploma or equivalent
*Physical requirements - standing/walking; climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; bending/stooping/squatting; carrying and lifting items 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet
*Working conditions - exposure to extreme heat and/or cold temperature and enclosed spaces
*Mechanical aptitude
*Strong computer skills
*Excellent verbal communication skills
*Problem solving skills and ability to manage filing system
*History of safe work
*Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
*Experience with natural gas pipelines and compressor facilities
*Experience with DOT 192 Regulations
*Associate’s degree or equivalent
