Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Bridge / Structures Engineer located in Seattle, Washington.   This is a position within a successful and established engineering team engaged in the design of public infrastructure.  Qualified individuals will participate in teams built to secure and deliver structural engineering work for transportation projects.  The successful candidate will support diversification and growth, and strategic direction, within the Pacific Northwest District Bridge/Structures Technical Excellence Center (TEC).
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support others who manage projects that have major structures
  • Solve project problems in a team environment, particularly where project issues and challenges are significantly affected by the proposed structural solutions
  • Perform routine engineering assignments designed to develop professional work, knowledge, and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks.
  • Perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments being conducted by senior engineers, including preparation of sketches, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques to specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. 
  • Learn how the company secures project assignments and who in the company is involved in these activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Required Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience or equivalent education
  • Positive, energetic, attitude and ability to work within a team atmosphere
  • Ability to learn and grow to produce high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals
  • Basic structural analytic and design skills and ability to solve technical problems.
  • Eagerness to conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced design engineer
  • Demonstrates commitment to high quality technical performance utilizing current technical knowledge and applications, particularly with a focus on bridge and infrastructure structural design
  • Processes strong written and oral communication skills
  • Utilizes computer software tools and applications as needed to solve basic engineering problems
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer MS or PhD in Civil engineering with bridge-focused background
  • Has current FE registration
