The Assistant County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) serves as a resource to veterans and their dependents, by filing of claims for insurance, pensions, compensation for disability, hospitalization, vocational training, education loans, readjustment allowances, or any other benefit for which they are entitled to receive. They serve as an advocate for the client in attempting to maximize the amount of federal and state veteran's benefits received.

Assists veterans in preparing and presenting claims to the US Department of Veterans Affairs for benefits based on claimant's current eligibility and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Provides information about veteran's benefits and services and helps veteran and family members understand eligibility requirements.
Prepares and follows up on time sensitives claim actions
Tracks client case work, correspondences, benefit awards, inquires and referrals, assists with summarizing data and preparing various reports.
Administers Veterans' Trust Fund Emergency Financial Assistant Grant Program
Participates and helps coordinate community and educational events, and on occasion may be asked to present publicly.
Collaborates with community services providers who can assist veterans with additional services and programs.
NO Security Clearance
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
1+ years working with Veteran Programs & Services
Accreditation from the Department of Veteran's Affairs preferred
Served in the US military and have been honorably discharged, released or retired from the military. Must submit a copy of the DD-214 form to prove status
Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
