Job Description

Merakey is currently seeking a Part Time Licensed Practical Nurse to join our NEW Outpatient Methadone Clinic staff within the Behavioral Health division in Petersburg, VA.



  • General Duties Responsibilities:

    • Dispenses daily doses of medication in accordance with Virginia State and Federal regulations.
    • Assists during physical exams in collecting vital signs, performing tests and charting and documenting
    • Maintain current inventory of medications in a secure environment.
    • Assess client's physical condition daily and communicates with treatment team any observed changes in client's status.
    • Collects specimens for drug screens
    • Maintains all medical records including but not limited to individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, Doctors orders, etc. as required.
    • Accounts for all medication used during a dispensary shift and works with Pharmacist in Charge to maintain correct inventory
    • Maintain and ensure accuracy of records to avoid medication discrepancies and take corrective action as needed.
    • Records medication errors and other incidents immediately
    • Educate clients regarding proper use of medication and its effects
    • Enforces dispensary policies and procedures.

    · Ensures medication is dispensed to the client they are prescribed for and requires identification to be verified when presenting to the medication booth

    • Daily review of medical orders and recording of changes
    • Performs TB tests, document results and provides education as needed
    • Monitors client's response to treatment and medication dosage when they come for dosing for signs of over-sedation and illness.
    • Follow the infection control and safety plan
    • Collaborates with treatment team regarding client behaviors that affect treatment
    • Maintain an accurate inventory and supply of needed medical supplies
    • Participates in required trainings and supports training of staff related to medical matters and client care.
