Take a look at career opportunities at Viasat today.Job ResponsibilitiesViasat's Space Systems segment is bringing the management of the Viasat spacecraft in-house. Be part of the new team that will control our revolutionary satellites. You will help build the operation from the ground up as we create custom processes to control the spacecraft fleet that has achieved industry firsts multiple times including the "Mythical Beast", Viasat-3; the 1 Tbps satellite. The Satellite Operations team will work hand-in-hand with Viasat's first-of-its-kind ground network that integrates with our spacecraft to deliver high-speed Internet to parts of the globe previously unserved. Multiple Satellite Controller Student positions are available with a target start date in January of 2019.As a Satellite Controller Student you will work in pairs with a Viasat Satellite Controller Employee. Together, you will both perform daily monitoring and command functions for the Viasat fleet of satellites as well as operate and manage the daily functions of the supporting TT&C ground network. Specific role includes secondary responsibility for the following:Perform daily monitoring and command functions for the Viasat fleet of satellites. Operate the daily functions of the supporting TT&C ground network. Monitor all Viasat satellites for proper operation; respond to satellite and network alarms; coordinate troubleshooting activities. Execute commands and procedures (nominal and anomalous) on all satellites. Conduct range data collection including scheduling and troubleshooting. Assist Engineers in spacecraft anomaly analysis and gather data to create and generate anomaly reports. Monitor the satellite ground station network and coordinate troubleshooting activities. Perform daily checks on spacecraft performance trends; create reports and aid in initial analysis findings. Create a shift log and aid in shift briefings. Create Epoch telemetry viewer pages; work with Spacecraft Engineers to create ARES procedures; add content to the company Wiki page. Attend required and routine trainings and meetings. RequirementsAn interest in space; a desire to learn; the drive to create Must have completed first year of undergraduate course work Degree paths: AE, EE, CS, Physics, ME, Mathematics Proficient in Microsoft OS and Office products Must be able to work a rotating 6 hour shift to help provide 24x7x365 coverage Willingness to commit to a year long program.
