Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Civil/Environmental Engineer for our Morristown, New Jersey, Elmsford, New York or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offices.  This is an early career position with responsibilities including design support, collection of environmental media samples, and associated reporting. This position will include up to 50% travel.   Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Develop thorough knowledge of standard field sampling procedures for various environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air)
  • Implement environmental sampling plans
  • Document and record data and observations in a clear and organized manner
  • Assist in preparing project plans and technical reports related to investigation and remediation activities (data tables, drawings, specifications)
  • Assist and support design teams in the execution of projects
  • Maintain positive team relationships
  • Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines, as required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil/environmental engineering or related engineering degree
  • 0 to 1 years civil/environmental consulting experience
  • Ability to work overtime (as needed) in both office and field, including overnight travel
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in civil/environmental engineering or related engineering degree
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training, DOT training, CPR and First Aid training
  • Hands-on experience with design software such as Autocad
  • E.I.T. Certification
