Job Description

A family living near Virginia Hospital Center is seeking a full-time childcare provider for period August 24, 2020 through June 25, 2021. The family has one rising second grader; a 7-year-old boy. The best candidate will have at least one-year experience working with a child with ADHD and be able to provide at least one reference of a past employer that can attest to this experience.

 

The caregiver will be expected to support the child to engage in the remote learning sessions required by the school district. The remainder of the day can be a balance of screen time and child-directed activities. The child typically enjoys drawing, playing games, pretending with action figures, going to visit a friend’s dog and playing with her in their backyard, etc. The best candidate will share his/her/their interests with the child, as well.

 

Hours of Work

8:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Expected: August 24, 2020 – June 25, 2021

 

Salary / Benefits

$620 per week; paid bi-weekly, preferably through direct deposit (taxes withheld)

Two weeks paid vacation (eligible to be taken any time after 90 days of employment)

Three personal health days

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • At least one-year of experience working with child(ren) with ADHD
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to drive child to activities
  • Must be legal to work in the United States

 

Skills

  • Strong technology skills (ability to utilize Microsoft Teams, ability to navigate basic children’s software like the Lego robotics’ app and Minecraft)
  • Mature abilities in problem-solving and conflict resolution; patient with child who escalates / de-escalates very quickly; ability to offer choices and not getting attached to outcome
  • Creativity in planning and executing adventures with Jay that follow his interests
  • Ability to cook basic food for child
  • Willingness to help child pick up activities before transitioning to the next activity (not to clean the house but just not have the day end with as tidy as it started
