Job DescriptionBiogen's Pharmaceutical Operations & Technology (PO&T) Gene Therapy Department is searching for an individual to act as a technical leader for the Cell Culture Development group. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with other groups within the Gene Therapy and Research Departments to drive innovation and characterization of cell culture process technologies to produce AAV viral vectors. Success in this position will require the candidate to enable successful AAV manufacturing through small scale development and provide support for regulatory submissions for early and late phase programs.Responsibilities include:Manage a small team to execute cell culture development studies for early and late phase gene therapy programs. Ensures that the team meets timelines, openly communicates across functions, and maintains a good working environment. Mentor direct reports and guide their career development.Work collaboratively within the Gene Therapy Department and Program Asset management to drive process characterization and relevant documentation to support PPQ or regulatory packages. Support technical transfer teams to ensure successful manufacturing campaigns at CMO facilities as needed.Engagein internal collaborations with other Gene Therapy or Technical Development groups to achieve objectives and implement scientific advancements in the Gene Therapy field.Independently manage technical projects to ensure milestones and timelines are met. Openly communicate across functions and departments while maintaining good collaborative relationships.Provide technical expertise on topics pertaining to cull culture development for both adherent and suspension mammalian cell culture processes. Presents findings and/or results to senior management, external stakeholders, and industry peers at conferences.Scope/Accountability:This individual will manage a group of 2-3 employees responsible for the implementation of cell culture processes for early-stage programs and characterization of late-stage programs.
