Come join us and help shape the future!   WSP is currently initiating a search for a Washington Bridge/Structures Manager to be located in the Seattle, WA area.    This is a leadership position within a successful and established engineering team engaged in the design of public infrastructure.  Qualified individuals will participate in leading a team to secure and deliver structural engineering work for transportation projects.  The successful candidate will support diversification and growth, drive strategic direction, and lead the Washington area Bridge/Structures Technical Excellence Center (TEC).   Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with district structures management team and area management to build capabilities and market share
  • Responsible for management, growth, and development of the structures team in Washington
  • Coordinate, develop, and oversee interaction to leverage the structures team and promote a chain of mentorship and succession for technical staff and project managers
  • Manage projects and support others to manage projects that have major structures
  • Provide innovative solutions related to the design of bridges, transit structures, and other significant structures required for state highways, county roads, and city streets
  • Solve project problems in a team environment, particularly where project issues and challenges are significantly affected by the proposed structural solutions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and subconsultants
  • Maintain and continue to develop the firm's reputation for technical excellence in bridge engineering.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant structural design experience with an emphasis on bridges.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil engineering with bridge-focused background
  • Current PE registration
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with construction, particularly in environmentally sensitive and constrained areas.
  • Experience with design build pursuits and project delivery.
  • Experience managing structure-centered transportation projects
  • Experience with business development for structure-centered transportation projects
  • Extensive knowledge of seismic modeling, assessment, and design of bridge structures
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Civil engineering with bridge-focused background.
  • Current SE Registration.
  • Involvement in industry and/or professional organizations related to structural engineering.
  • Working knowledge of other technical disciplines, such as track, highway, drainage, geotechnical, and hydraulics, associated with the design and construction of public infrastructure.
