Test Technician

BROAD FUNCTION:

The Test Technician will participate in the assembling and testing of AMS (Analytical Mass Spectrometer) instruments to ensure that specifications and customer requirements are met and systems are delivered in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assemble and test AMS modules and systems to ensure that performance specifications and application specific requirements are met.
• With the support of the Systems Engineer and Process Engineer, troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on systems that do not meet specification.
• Work with senior staff to develop and maintain system test processes, procedures and work instructions.
• Support other areas of the AMS group as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates degree in Mechanical Technology or related technical field and zero (0) to three (3) years of experience including applicable internships. Recent graduates will need to provide a copy of their transcript as part of the selection and interview process.
• Hands on ability to assemble and test precision mechanical instruments and systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills with attention to system level design and quality.
• Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated while remaining part of a close knit team.
• Strong priority and time management skills.
• Proficiency in MS office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a production environment is preferred.
• Operation of mass spectrometer or related instrumentation equipment is preferred.
• Basic theory and understanding of mass spectrometers components (quadrupole sensor, RF generator, and controller) and ultra high vacuum (UHV) equipment is preferred.
• Analytical chemistry background is preferred.
• Literacy in software tools such as SAP, 3D, CAD, and LabView is preferred.
