Traffic Engineer I - Transportation Infrastructure - East Hartford, CT Opportunity : Parsons is now hiring for aTraffic Engineer I to support projects in the New England regions, as well as national projects at times. We are looking for an engineer withan affinity for simulating traffic patterns to alleviate congestion and improve safety on major road and highway transportation projects. This is a hybrid role of working with both traffic systems design engineering, utilizing software such as Synchro and Vissim, as well as performing geometric road & highway design with Autocad Civil 3D and Microstation. Our road and highway projects circle the globe, through crowded cities and empty deserts, across rivers, and over mountains.Join our team of technical experts andmake your mark to change the course of roads forever!Position Overview and Responsibilities:The successful candidate will perform traffic engineering assignment duties and roadway geometrics design, and will be involved in:Traffic Operations Analysis - Experience with Synchro, HCS and VISSIM (a plus) and their application on freeways, major roads and local roads. In-depth knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual. Traffic Signal Design - Experience in the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic signal construction.Experience with Michigan Department of Transportation projects is a plus. A proficiency in MicroStation CAD software is desirable. Signal Timing - Experience with development and implementation of signal timings, including data collection, and programming of signal timings is a plus. Geometrics alignments and design supporting both state and regional DOT road & highway projects in the area Qualifications:BS degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.MS degree with an emphasis in Transportation & traffic engineering highly desirable3 years or more of experience as a traffic/transportation engineer; experience with hands-on traffic simulation using software programs such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, etcProficient working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with, major types of technical analyses (including traffic impact analyses, safety studies, signal corridor studies, capacity analyses, signal designs)Experience with roadway systems design utilizing either Autocad Civil 3D and/or Microstation. _Ready for action?
