Job Description


Description: Mid-level individual contributor job in Communications for the Federal Government Account. Acts as a communications resource for communication programs or projects for the Aetna plans offered through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).


Fundamental Components:
  • Understand and support the Aetna brand.
  • Understand how communications solutions will support Aetna's ability to succeed.
  • Consistently make connections to the larger enterprise context.
  • Craft messaging based on overall Federal Account strategy
  • Commitment to measuring effectiveness and willingly making adjustments to improve effectiveness.
  • Oversee communications/materials/presentations/website content for specific products designed to achieve membership targets
  • Execute communication programs using best practices, innovative ideas and audience insight.
  • Collaborate with others to coordinate separate communication efforts
  • Measure progress and results, adjust as needed to achieve necessary outcome
  • Ensure that all communications are error-free, accurate, appropriately approved and consistent with Aetna's core values.
  • Order giveaways and promotion materials
  • Coordinate printing and shipping process for brochures, direct mail, and other materials
  • Support the field sales team as needed by attending meetings, conducting webinars, or handling appointments scheduled through our website
Background Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with other communication, sales, and marketing professionals toward a common goal.
  • Requires 3 years of experience in at least one communication discipline and 1-3 years of experience in one of several sub-disciplines (may include media/public relations, internal/executive communications, public affairs, and marketing or community relations).
  • Experience in writing and editing all kinds of communication on short notice and as part of long-term initiatives.
  • Track record of proactively identifying and pursuing relevant opportunities that resulted in increased audience awareness and understanding of the core message(s).
  • Experience developing and executing successful communication programs at the enterprise level or for major business organizations.
  • Prefer candidate with a Life & Health Insurance License.
