Full-Time Engineering

Job Description

The ResearchSolutionsStrategic Business Unit(SBU) provides the foundation of FactSet's client-facing product offering. By marrying robust content, intuitive applications, and innovative technology, we expand our footprint across several key user classes in the financial industry, including: investment banking, sell-side research, buy-side research, private equity, portfolio managers, traders, capital markets, investor relations, and media. The SBU is responsible for providing solutions to an extensive number of existing client workflows, as well as ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of an increasingly technologically savvy user-base.

The Research SBU is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our content signals alerting and automation project, coordinating with other FactSet teams to build out and enhance our critical infrastructure. FactSet has a vast, diverse, universe of connected content. Our clients struggle to consume all of it. By building Signals on top of this data, we surface the most personalized, insightful changes & findings in our data for clients to explore and act on. To ensure this delivery is as timely as possible, we need advanced alerting capabilities that will allow clients to easily monitor content changes and key signals in real-time. Additionally, to increase client efficiency, we will continue to build out an automation platform that makes it easy for clients to not only monitor these changes but trigger the 'next-steps' via automation and connected flows. For example, our infrastructure will easily allow a signal or content change on a given portfolio or identifier to trigger custom report refreshes, additional API calls for context data, python scripts for further logic or processing, and then email or otherwise distribute polished reports or updates to allow that next action to happen quickly, seamlessly, and with the best information possible.

Direct responsibilities include:

  • Become a technical expert in FactSet's existing alerting infrastructure capabilities, and content update notification/trigger architecture
  • Explore additional technologies and tools that could enhance our existing process or infrastructure
  • Help define a vision & build a system for utilizing content update notifications to kick-off Signal processing by collaborating with our existing content and Signals teams
  • Help define and implement a method for real-time Signals alerting via notification, email, or other endpoints to trigger further automated workflows by collaborating with our alerting engine team
  • Build out automated workflows support for clients to easily construct automation flows initiated by Signal triggers or other triggers by collaborating with our Integrations team
  • Communicate with product development, peer engineering groups, and scrum teams to create scalable solutions

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Minimum 2 year's experience in software engineering
  • Experience with JavaScript and Node
  • Passion for developing scalable and maintainable software systems.
  • A self-starter comfortable with iteration and ideation
  • Experience with modern web development practices
  • Interest in real-time data, large data sets, high-performance systems, financial content and financial client workflows

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Cloud Infrastructure
  • Experience developing full stack solutions
  • Java, C# or C++
  • Ability to work flexibly in a highly agile environment with daily stand-ups and SCRUM methodology
