This position is within Wealth and Investment Management Operations (WIM) - As a valued member of the Pre Trade Monitoring team, the Business Initiatives Consultant is the first point of contact for investment professionals seeking advice on guidelines and or restrictions their portfolios are subject to. The Business Initiatives Consultant will provide support to WFAM's investment business teams to ensure compliance with regulatory, prospectus and client guidelines. The Business Initiatives Consultant 3 will report in to the VP, Pre Trade Monitoring. The Position: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Monitor investment teams adherence to client guidelines, internal parameters, and statutory requirements within core trading-compliance applications (i.e. Charles River | Bloomberg );
Research validity of flagged exceptions and escalate issues to ensure violations and warnings are addressed and resolved in a timely manner;
Liaise with Portfolio Management, Trading, Relationship Managers, and Compliance to review, interpret, design, and implement client mandates and regulatory restrictions;
Provide initial review and interpretation as well as ongoing maintenance of all client, regulatory and prospectus guidelines and account investment restrictions (i.e. Investment Management Agreements, Prospectuses, Statement of Additional Information, Private Placement Memorandums, etc.) to ensure all are coded accurately, effectively, and optimally;
Work with the firm's Information Technology group to optimize the compliance system and automate compliance processes;
Ensure that effective controls are in place to meet federal laws and regulations and provide training, advice and education on how to comply with regulatory requirements and to monitor such compliance;
US and International Regulatory Reporting.
6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning
10+ years of financial services experience
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
Ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment
Other Desired Qualifications
Strong knowledge of equity and fixed income asset classes, security types, and derivatives;
Demonstrated ability to interpret investment guidelines, legal documents, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. SEC, ERISA, Investment Company Act, other federal laws, UCITS, and foreign regulatory laws);
Compliance monitoring | coding experience using Bloomberg CMGR and/ or Charles River;
Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior investment professionals and maintain integrity under compressed time constraints;
Strong analytic skills, resourcefulness, problem solving abilities and attention to detail
Proven successful track record of building strong relationships with Investment Teams across all asset classes and products;
Ability to understand processes end to end and make value-added recommendations to improve design and control structure;
Highly motivated self-starter able to be successful in a working environment that requires flexibility and independence with ambiguous situations and constant change to achieve desired outcome/objectives;
Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex programs and initiatives provide credible challenge to opportunities and concerns;
Demonstrated experience with issue resolution including root cause analysis, mitigation plans and remediation activities.
