Enterprise Finance drives financial management for the company and maintains and enhances risk and financial controls. Key functions within Enterprise Finance include finance and accounting; Treasury; corporate development, mergers, and acquisitions; Data Management and Insights, the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence, Enterprise Shared Services, Business Process Management, and Corporate Strategy. Enterprise Finance informs shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, team members, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines. They also maintain and enhance risk and financial controls and lead many of the company's shared services functions including corporate properties, security, and global services.
Our Controller's Group is responsible for all accounting and financial reporting functions for the home lending portfolio, including SEC and Regulatory Reporting, as well as, all related internal control activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting to investors, creditors, management, and regulators.
The Controller's Group is seeking a motivated professional to join the real estate secured held for investment (HFI) portfolio accounting team. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the requirements of HFI portfolio and have solid experience in loan accounting. This position will be primarily responsible for leading changes relating to a home lending accounting system of record, projects and initiatives. This role will also be significantly involved in the monthly closing process and quarterly SEC and Regulatory reporting for mortgage related accounts. This role will also be a team lead in special projects to integrate and enhance current systems and processes. This role requires advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with various groups across the Company and to possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for performing advanced monitoring and reviewing of accounting results and legal entity reporting
  • Support team and manager as lead in accounting initiatives/projects
  • Quarterly SEC and Regulatory reporting for mortgage related accounts
  • Manage projects to implement new systems including developing business requirement documents, completing testing of UAT results and final implementation
  • Require successful interaction and partnership with multiple groups and individuals across the Company including, but not limited to, credit and operational risk, servicing, corporate accounting, external audit, internal audit, treasury and COSO
  • Implement internal control activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting to investors, creditors, management, and regulators
  • Complete ad hoc research, detailed analysis, interpreting, and reporting on loan balances and associated general ledger accounts
  • Examine reporting and accounting processes for possible re-engineering to enhance efficiencies
  • Assist in the preparation of required controls/compliance documentation including EUCTs, desktop procedures, and COSO compliance
  • Review general ledger and system of record data; complete research, analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review entries for posting to the general ledger
  • Held for investment mortgage reporting utilizing Excel, Access, and Smartview
Selected candidate will be required to work within one of the following Wells Fargo locations: Charlotte, NC; Des Moines, IA. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of accounting experience
  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting; or a BS/BA or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or Business and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Public accounting experience
  • Supervisory skills including; distributing work and providing work direction
  • Leadership experience including; coaching, training, and mentoring
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology testing: creation of test plans, test scripts, and managing UAT events
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
